Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

+ What languages are spoken?

To acquaint the participants with the science's lingua franca, the event is fully in English.

+ Is there any requirement for attending the 9th Symposium on Bioengineering?

No! Just a load of motivation and curiosity is needed. Also, an insatiable appetite. We have some very special coffee breaks prepared for you!

+ If I cannot check in at 8:00 AM on the 14th, can I do it another time?

Yes, the check in office will be always open during the Symposium so you can check in at any time. Also, we will open the check-in during the afternoon of 13th April.

+ Are the lunches included in the registration fee of the event?

No, the lunches are not included and they have an associated cost.

+ What is included in the registration fee?

The registration fee includes entry for both days of the Symposium, a participation certificate, a participation kit, and entrance in all coffee-breaks. Also, you can participate in the speed dating sessions or in the open mic session. If you register during the early bird phase, you will also have access to workshops and visits (on the 13th of April) and a bitalino raffle.

+ Where else can I have lunch?

During registration, you can take advantage of our partnership with E-Learning Caf Asprela and select a lunch at a very academic price for both Saturday and Sunday. This offer is limited to 80 spots. Additionaly, we recommend Continente (Areosa), the shopping Campus So Joo (5 minutes walking) and restaurants near Hospital So Joo dining area (10 minutes walking).

+ What is speed dating?

Speed dating is a session where you can where you can chat for a few minutes in a totally relaxed and informal environment with your favourite speakers and some colleagues. It occurs in one of the coffee breaks, but don't worry, you'll still have plenty of time to eat!

+ Can I register for a workshop and a visit?

You are limited to either a workshop or a visit, since we have limited slots. In case there are some remaining slots, or someone quits and you take their place, you may attend both.

+I have a question for a speaker but I don't feel comfortable asking it in public. What can I do?

Like last year, we'll be using Sli.do but members from the audience will also get to ask questions. We'll try to balance everything!
